Hello everyone, I’m excited to share a little bit about myself here. I love getting to know our customers, too, so please stop by and introduce yourself the next time you visit one of our sales!
I started Birch and Brass in 2025 with sales in Maryland and in 2026 we moved into Virginia. We have a team of 6 folks and together we host about 2 sales a month all around Northern Virginia. I’m lucky to say that this team is made up of some of the nicest, most helpful people I’ve had the joy of working with. If you’ve visited one of our sales, then I’m sure you already know that! The team rotates around working on different days, but you’ll get the chance to meet them all either at a sale or through these postings.
As for my backstory, before starting the business, I spent 23 years managing international aid projects. In 2025, I had the opportunity to make a career change, and once I discovered the world of estate sales, I was hooked! I loved the fun atmosphere, the thrill of discovering unexpected treasures, and most of all, the opportunity to help families during an important time of transition. Estate sales turned out to be a wonderful way to combine my love of creativity, people, and service to the community.
People often ask me about my favorite finds and it’s hard to pin down just a few. I love the story of the man who drove from New Jersey the day before a sale so that he could be first in line to buy 300 of the most amazing carved smoking pipes I have ever seen. Or the fellow who was opening a record shop in downtown DC and bought over 100 records to help get his inventory started. Or the young family in Annandale who had just purchased their first home and came through the sale to buy their first furniture - a dining room table and a couch. There's something really special about watching someone's face light up when they discover an item that's just perfect for them.
If you haven't been to one of our sales yet, I hope you'll come visit us soon. Maybe you'll find that perfect something that lights you up, too!
